This carpet originates from Ravar, a city 140 km south of Kerman province. Ravar is one the most important centres of carpet-weaving in today’s Iran/ancient Persia. It is fair to say that all the high-quality carpets of Kerman are woven in Ravar. Kerman rugs usually show about 15 to 30 colours in different shades perfectly harmonising. It is common for Kerman carpets that asymmetrical knots are used. The wool is dyed before spinning which is typical of the Kerman region.
